Inner Freedom Technique™ is a hypnosis modality intended to help a person transform painful experiences, feelings, beliefs, and other perceived limitations into more positive states of feeling and being. The psyche naturally wants to experience balance, and we can use a person’s innate desire for balance to facilitate a change of perspective that will heal their bodies and minds. As hypnotists, we can help clients with this process by simply being a guide while they are in a deep state of relaxation and asking them questions that will cue their minds to address limiting fears and beliefs in a systematic, organized fashion.
IFT has many applications that are useful to a practitioner who wants to support their client in new ways or even start a whole new business focusing on a certain niche of client care. Some of those applications include:
Helping people feel better about their bodies and feel more resolved after physical injuries or chronic pain
Helping people identify related events to physical pain, which helps them create a sense of meaning around their pain that they can then liberate themselves from
Helping people identify and work through relationships that may contribute to their pain or stress
Helping people identify and work through limiting beliefs that worsen pain, decrease performance, or decrease their quality of life in some way
Helping people to understand their own minds and bodies better, and notice when they are in stories about themselves and others that don't help them
There are many benefits to working with hypnosis, and with IFT in particular:
IFT enables a client to easily go to the cause of a symptom, feeling or belief even if they don’t have conscious recall of the event
IFT helps a person gently resolve events without having to recall them in great detail, so that they don’t have to feel re-traumatized by the event
IFT helps a person feel really resolved about a whole topic or pattern, not just single causal event, so they have an easier time creating a new belief or pattern that they DO want
IFT reduces the need for intense somatic processing of negative experiences.
IFT is an easy modality to learn; there’s not a steep learning curve
IFT empowers clients to be active participants in their own healing process, in part by encouraging them to make lists and become more conscious of what they are actually thinking and feeling so that they are prepared for a session.
Due to the broadness and openness of the language and scripting, IFT opens clients to an overall expansion of awareness and larger themes rather than only addressing specific complaints. It is a great technique for people on a path of expansion- you don’t have to be suffering to participate in this work.
